Not all concepts require the same amount of human machinery to exist. Mediation Density measures how many layers of rendering stand between us and the thing.
If that's true, the density of a concept is not fixed. It shifts as human systems change. Money's density in 1200 CE is different from its density in 2026. The measurement is historical, not ontological. That is a much stranger possibility than it looks.
Is there a floor on density? Can any concept have zero mediation — or does the act of naming it already add a layer? The moment granite becomes "granite," something has been added.
